Hey, what could go wrong?

Have you heard of Vibrant Margins? It's a subscription service for readers who like fiction from small, independent presses.

This month the Vibrant Margins selection is--TA DAH!--our own MR. BOARDWALK by Louis Greenstein, and there's a cool interview with Louis up on the site.

Here are some excerpts from the interview:
I just love the Jersey shore. People say it’s visceral — you can smell it, even taste it. It’s a place that’s really close to me.

Could you describe your writing process in three words? I’ve thought a lot about this, so here goes: Gush, Flow, Drip.

[Writing] is really hard because I’m up against my own craziness, and I’m pushing the boundaries of my own understanding of people: motives, behaviors, drivers, everything. As I go back and do the hard work of crafting this character, I feel like I’m working on myself. It’s rewarding, but it’s really hard and really slow.

I’m gonna use what I can from my life when it makes sense on the page; I’m going to be brave about it and put it out there.

I got turned on to [Fielding] Dawson and Charles Bukowski
at the same time. I called Bukowski one time — I was nineteen and I was drunk, and I thought Hey, what could go wrong?
For the outcome of that drunken call to Bukowski, you'll have to read the interview itself.
