A puzzle picture from the Olden Days!
Can you guess the year? (Hint: The Beatles had not yet arrived in America, though they were coming soon.)
Can you find the mayor of Atlantic City? (Hint: He's a balding white guy in a suit. Okay, that's not much of a hint, so here's a second one: he was a Jewish Republican who held the office for 23 years.)
Can you find Louis Greenstein, future author of Mr. Boardwalk? (Hint: He's in front of the mayor.)
Other notable points of this wonderful photo:

Other notable points of this wonderful photo:
- The Atlantic City Beach Patrol employed kids as "mascots"--and still does. According to Louis, the mascot's duties included running errands and fetching cheesesteaks.
- Back in those Olden Days, the Beach Patrol guys evidently had white wavy white streaks running through their faces and bodies. It's not known whether these were permanent.
- Women and girls were, quite literally, out of the picture. Louis remembers his mother looking out at the unguarded beach and wondering, "Hey, who's minding the store?" Answer: the moms, of course.
